She has tried to trap the child a bit, with her right hand – hoping to catch a little rest – maybe? Sometimes it seems that even one minute will make a difference.

I often think in whimsy, and this painting was a realization for me that I can entertain my whimsical urges without resulting in a silly piece – at least I don’t think it is silly – do you?
