Katie m. Berggren painting: Forgive

Love is always the answer to healing of any sort. And the pathway to love is forgiveness. Forgiveness dissolves resentment…”

What a fantastic book - you can see it on my book list on the Resources page of this site.

In this painting, the mother is very nearly looking toward the sky, as if to confirm the forgiveness that she is either giving or receiving.

Another painting on deep-cradled gessobord (see lower left) with unstained 2" Birch edges.

"Forgive"
Acrylic on Cradled Board
24x30"
March 2008

From The Artist:
Not all is peaches and cream in a home with small children, and sometimes I wonder if I’m a hypocrite by painting only those sweet moments.

This piece is heavy for me –
I fall from grace and bark at my little ones occasionally...

For a variety of reasons I’ve asked my children to forgive me and they me. I believe in the power of forgiveness.

Page 91 in “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise L. Hay hit home for me in this mention:

“when we are stuck, that usually means there is some more forgiving to be done. When we do not flow freely with life in the present moment, it usually means we are holding on to a past moment. It can be regret, sadness, hurt, fear or guilt, blame, anger, resentment, and sometimes even the desire for revenge. Each one of these states comes from a space of unforgiveness, and refusal to let go and come into the present moment.
