From The Artist:
I had been working on this composition and I adored the way the figures came together, but there was something missing... while working on a commissioned piece, I had a big blob of green paint left over and decided to introduce these figures to the green. Suddenly, my previous love of creating mermaids came back and I found myself very much enjoying the process of adding detail and sparkle. My previous mermaids were very detailed and whimsical.

Along with birds and Chinese painting techniques - whimsical details are characteristics that I want to re-introduce into my current style.
