This composition emerged to describe the feeling of sitting in the hospital waiting to hear the fate of my dear grandfather who was battling brain cancer.

Strangely, my grandpa lost his battle on the day that I began this painting - so injecting it with true grief during completion was quite easy. This image will always take me back to that day - January 4, 2007.
