"Choosing To Stay"
Acrylic on Canvas
20x24"
September 2007
From The Artist:
In June of 1998, I found myself on a Maui mountain top sprinkling the ashes of my darling Dad. When, despite the direction of the wind, his ashes shot straight back into my face, I was puzzled and at the same time comforted. I spent the rest of the day with him on my clothes and skin. In talking with a Maui resident, I learned that the action of his ashes coming back at (us) was his way of saying he wanted to remain near... this painting has been in the works for a couple months - finally breathing life into it feels completely satisfying.
