Katie m. Berggren painting: Thoughts of Spring

"Thoughts of Spring"
Acrylic on Cradled Board
24x30"
February 2008

From The Artist:
Aching for Spring and devastatingly excited for flowers, warm breezes, spring cleaning (yes, believe it or not), walks and afternoons at the park, this painting poured out of me.

Written during the process: This painting is taking me on an incredible journey of faith. I have complete and utter faith that this is to be on of my career-changing paintings. I’m literally being pulled through the tough spots and over the paint ridges by my heart strings – my chest feels hot, as if I’m discovering a great secret

It’s true – there is something different about this painting – something a bit more delicate than current and previous paintings swirling around me. Something a bit more intense and complete.

The warmth is hitting the mama first because the mother’s mood affects the child – it all starts with her.

In college, I studied Chinese painting and I created a lot of birds. Over the last couple months, I have been really wanting to bring back my birds - so this is a start!

Another painting on deep-cradled gessobord (see left) with unstained 2" Birch edges.
